Challenges and intriguing twists on well-known games.

Candy Land Rules

A wonderful, simple, and childhood game for many persons. While the concept is well-known, how could designers change and alternate the rules to make it different and perhaps better?

  • Created and formatted document.

  • Deleted, tweaked, and added several rules.

  • Found game components for reference.

  • Revised and edited it after feedback.

  • Commented sections for clarity and possibly future edits.

Collaborative study on balancing asymmetrical mechanics through character pieces and types. Quokka themed board game uploaded in Tabletop Simulator. both funny and heavily playtested.

  • Brainstorm and held meetings with members.

  • Communicated formatting expectations.

  • Created Title, Contents, Overview, Materials, Terrain sections as well as examples and notes.

  • Created back cards, terrain cards, and energy through found artwork and photoshop.

  • Playtested and revised.

  • 3D Modeled victory points.

Collaborative challenge. Players are CEOs of their own studio, battling with cards that represent the effectiveness, strengths and/or weaknesses, of various disciplines. Playtested real-time and a unique take on card games.

  • Brainstorm and held meetings with members.

  • Communicated formatting expectations.

  • Created Title, Contents, Overview, Objective, Setup, Periods v Rounds sections as well as notes and Game Development write-up.

Change a health system in a pre-existing game, Terraria, to include aesthetic user experience feedback for players. Includes ways to manage and restore health along with new mechanics/features.

Alternative card game in collaborative design, utilizing Jokers in a 4-6 player tally system. Takes Battle of The Developers Challenge further, implementing extremely competitive mechanics.

Designer Challenge... Challenge

Created a challenge, "Game Mesh," where participants make entirely new games based only their two- and only two- favorite games.

Created a silly challenge for other designers "For The Kids!" As many games rely on violence for exiting gameplay, participants must take any game that heavily implements this and replace, tweak, or delete such mechanics, rules, or gore.

  • Created entire documentation, mechanics, and health system.
